Energy Givers

Every time you interact with another human being… you either give them energy (‘fill their bucket’) or you take their energy (‘drain their bucket.’).  Every day, every practice, everywhere you are either an energy giver or an energy taker.  If you want to be successful in life, and sports, be an energy giver, and surround yourself with energy givers.  Energy givers make those around them better.

It’s simple… if every player and coach is an energy giver during a practice or games then it becomes more intense and more productive, and we ALL get better!  Not everyone can shoot the three and not everyone can score all the points, but, everyone CAN be an energy giver.  Being an energy giver is a choice.  It is an attitude.  Energy givers raise the confidence of everyone they come in contact with.  Energy givers make teammates excited and teammates better!  Coaches and teammates love players who are energy givers.

Are you an energy giver?

When you're at practice, at camp, at games, at school, at class, at the house with your parents……do you give energy by listening and being teachable??  Are you a supportive teammate and enthusiastic to everyone?  Are you nice to everyone? Are you always working as hard as you possibly can?

Or do you drain the energy of others by being lazy, arguing, and complaining, making fun of others and calling others names?  If you want to stand out in games and camps… and really have coaches take notice… then you need to be an energy giver!

Energy givers thank their teammates for a good pass!

Energy givers greet their teammates on the bench!

Energy givers celebrate their teammates' success from the bench and on the court!

Energy givers give their teammate a hand slap at the freethrow line!

Energy givers pass their teammate a water bottle at a timeout!

Energy givers cheer their teammates on whether they’re in the game or not!

Energy givers listen to their coach with their ears and their eyes.

Energy givers communicate and talk when on the court!

Energy givers show up early and are prepared to practice or play with all their equipment!

Energy givers always give that little extra.  And it goes a long way.

I challenge you all to make a conscious effort to be an energy giver… it will pay off… trust me.
